Homeward Bound: A Path from Homelessness to Homeownership is a transformative initiative under Do Good On Purpose. Our program offers individuals facing homelessness the opportunity to achieve tiny home ownership through structured volunteer service, financial stability, and personal growth.

2. How does the Homeward Bound program work?

The program follows a three-step approach to homeownership:

Starter Village: Participants begin their journey in small, functional house pods that provide essential shelter and support.

Good Samaritan Village: After demonstrating compliance, participants move into their own tiny home while working toward ownership.

Homeownership: Upon completing 2,000 hours of community service and securing sustainable income, participants take full ownership of their tiny home.

3. Who is eligible to participate in Homeward Bound?

To qualify, participants must:

• Be experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

• Commit to a minimum of 20 volunteer hours per week.

• Work toward securing a sustainable income (employment, benefits, retirement, etc.).

• Demonstrate a willingness to engage in personal and financial growth.

4. What is the time commitment for the program?

Participants must complete 2,000 hours of community service, which equates to 20 hours per week over 2 years (50 weeks per year).

Participants contribute their time to locally approved charitable organizations. Volunteer opportunities may include working in food banks, community outreach programs, maintenance work, and more—offering valuable experience and giving back to the community.

9. What does a tiny home include?

Each tiny home (under 399 sq. ft. interior living space) includes:

A fully functional kitchen

A bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink

Fully furnished living, bedroom and storage loft area

Essential appliances and energy-efficient utilities
