At Do Good On Purpose, we believe in transforming lives with structure, dignity, and community.
Homeward Bound is our intentional housing pipeline, guiding individuals from crisis into long-term independence through the HumanKind Helps pathway.
At each stage—Shelter, Starter Village, Good Samaritan Village, and for Veterans, the Permanent Party Village—participants gain housing, wraparound supports, and the opportunity to earn Mortgage Credit Hours through meaningful volunteer service toward their very own tiny home deed.
For individuals in immediate need, this shelter offers safe, sober, and dignified short-term housing.
Residents receive essential case management, meals, and connections to health and recovery services.
It’s the first step toward stability, with a clear intent: preparing for transition into Starter Village.
In this gated, supportive pod community, residents commit to 10–15 hours of approved volunteer service per week while engaging in life-skills training and mentoring.
Starter Village is where trust and accountability begin—where participants prove their readiness and begin building earned housing credits.
Participants then move into their own tiny home for 10–18 hours of weekly service over the next 18 months, continuing trainings in budgeting, tenancy, and financial literacy.
This stage deepens independence and accountability, as they move closer to homeownership.
Veterans in the program follow a dedicated track into this tiny home community built just for them.
Here they continue earning Mortgage Credit Hours until they qualify to receive a deeded tiny home—honoring their service with permanence and support.
Comprehensive Support – Each stage combines housing with mentorship, training, and a community center for growth.
Clear Ownership Goal – With each hour served and milestone met, participants earn equity toward owning a tiny home.
Empowerment Through Service – Participants rebuild lives while giving back, forging confidence and connection.
Dignified Path to Stability – From emergency shelter to community housing to ownership, the journey builds purpose and belonging.
Homeward Bound embraces individuals experiencing homelessness—and Veterans—in the Greater Houston area who are ready to commit to:
• Logging 10–18 hours/week of approved volunteer service,
• Engaging in training, financial literacy, and personal growth activities,
• Demonstrating responsibility, readiness, and commitment at every stage.
Together, under the vision of Do Good On Purpose, Homeward Bound and HumanKind Helps are rewriting the story of homelessness—one tiny home, one life, and one deeded future at a time.

Typically, the journey from Starter Village to homeownership takes two years.
Tiny homes feature a living area, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, designed for comfort and efficiency.
Currently, the program is focused on adult individuals and couples without children, but future plans include exploring family-based housing solutions.
